If you’re buying gifts for kids this holiday season, this is the post for you. If you want no part of that action, disregard completely. Now, then, let the capitalism begin.
Nearly every third sentence out of Lucas’s mouth includes the word “Sklyander.” He used to watch YouTube videos about each and every Skylander game for our PS4. We ultimately made him choose: enjoy the games themselves OR watch the YouTube videos. Not both. So, we’ve killed YouTube altogether, “Because, Mama, I don’t trust myself not to watch. Just remove YouTube from everything.” It’s like throwing the cake out of the house.
What he wants most for Christmas is Sklylander SuperChargers, the latest version of Skylanders (Spyro’s Adventure, Giants, Swap Force, and Trap Team were earlier versions). The deal with this game, I’m learning, is that you need a character for each element (fire, earth, magic, tech, undead, air, life, water, light, dark) and a vehicle to go along with that character. Need isn’t the right word. Because you don’t “need” them to play, only to unlock certain areas within the game. Pretty brilliant on Activision’s part. The starter pack comes with a Fire character and it’s vehicle and a Life character. So, now he “needs” the Life vehicle: Stealth Stinger. And, ya know, all the other characters for each element and their associated vehicles.
[Tweet “Where’s the Supercharged drink for Santa? #skylanders”]Last year, the burlap sack Santa left by our door made this child’s Christmas. He still talks about it, a year later!
Second on Lucas’s list is the Imaginext DC Super Friends Exclusive Mr. Freeze Headquarters Gift Set
And, he’s mentioned LEGO Hulk Buster maybe 48 times this morning.
A GIRL’S WISHLIST FOR CHRISTMAS
“Mama, I’ll be happy with whatever Santa brings me. Just so long as he gets me the Cayla doll. I mean she talks to you! She’s not one of those dolls who just repeats after you. She actually answers your questions.”
