In reading Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See?, I just found myself trying to explain to the taters why we wouldn’t be eating a red fox, a flying squirrel, a blue heron, a prairie dog, a striped skunk, a mule deer, a rattlesnake (though some people do), a screech owl, nor a baby bear for dinner. We would, however, be eating a mountain goat.
"But, why Mama?"
"Because Papa found it on sale at Costco."*
*It wasn’t actually Costco, but it took too long to explain that he discovered it in the aisles of the Asian supermarket.
