There’s Never Enough TV

It’s Wednesday morning, and I’m ready to binge. Not on carbs. Not on coffee (mmkay, maybe). Not even on Netflix. Well, not in my usual way.

Firstly, I’m getting dressed and leaving the actual house: semi-abnormal. Secondly, I despise the word “secondly,” so this counting business stops here. I’m documenting my day on social media because sharing is caring—except when it’s herpes. To give this upcoming surge of selfies a bit of context, I figure it’ll help to share the Netflix itinerary for my, well, for today, Wednesday, February 8, 2017. Mind you I’m posting this at 12:28AM, so much for sleep…

9AM: An experiment with Bill Nye, “The Science Guy,” and Todd Yellin, VP of Product Innovation at Netflix, debunking the notion of “too much TV.”

Total political-ish side note: Upcoming Series – Bill Nye Saves The World: Bill Nye hosts a talk show exploring scientific issues from space exploration to fad diets, vaccinations, genetically modified foods, and (wait for it) climate change. Guests join for lab demos and myth busting.

9:45AM: Dare To Be Different
A discussion around titles that are truly Netflix Originals at heart – content that pushes boundaries outside of the scope of the norm and stories not usually told. These titles and talent dare to be different and different is better.

10:30AM: Santa Clarita Diet: Joel (Timothy Olyphant) and Sheila (Drew Barrymore) are husband and wife realtors leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita with their teenaged daughter Abby (Liv Hewson), until Sheila goes through a dramatic change sending their lives down a road of death and destruction…but in a good way.
11:15AM: Netflix Creatives
Groundbreaking creatives and collaborators who are a driving force in the stories we share with the world. This discussion will reinforce that the personalization our consumers experience starts with the creative control in the stories they create.

1PM: Strong Female Leads
This discussion will celebrate our critical mass of awesome women leading our premium content. We’d like this panel to be both engaging for audiences but also collaborative amongst the panel. We’ll have leading women from previously launched series to those new to the Netflix family, as we dig deeper into why these women truly rule!
1:45PM: Girlboss
Girlboss is inspired by the New York Times best-selling book #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso, founder of the fashion brand Nasty Gal. The series centers on Amoruso (Britt Robertson), who began selling vintage clothes on eBay and, by the age of 28, had built the multi-million dollar fashion empire, Nasty Gal.
2:30PM: 13 Reasons Why
Based on the best-selling books by Jay Asher, 13 Reasons Why follows teenager Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) as he returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker—his classmate and crush—who committed suicide two weeks earlier. On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life.

3:15PM: Julie’s Greenroom
Starring the legendary Julie Andrews, Julie’s Greenroom is preschool show from The Jim Henson Company and Netflix that will feature an all-new puppet cast of kids learning about the performing arts.
This is only the itinerary. I plan to follow up and share everything I learn, right here with you. Including whether or not my makeup lasts throughout the day. #kiddingnotkidding

As a Netflix #StreamTeam member...

In exchange for sharing 1 post each month about Netflix programming, I receive a subscription to Netflix. Though I often share more often because I overshare like it’s a sport. Opinions, though, are all mine.
