Look how much can be accomplished in a month, just one month. Knowing this, I like to remind myself to make the moments matter, that so much can change, that fast. I need to hold onto the moments I want most to remember, and I do this by savoring, carving out the brain time to stop in a moment and say, “Yes! This is what it’s all about!” It’s why, now, for example, as these kids walk off the bus into snow, I have hot chocolate waiting to be brewed together, marshmallows at the ready. We’ll do homework beneath a blanket on the sofa, followed by a surprise show… Phineas & Ferb Christmas Vacation. On Christmas Eve, we always watch The Polar Express. What surprises me most is how with movies “watching” becomes “doing.” It truly is an event, something special, memorable, and most important, it’s something we can replay in the years to come, a connection that lives through generations.

COMMENTS:

  1. Although not a kids movie, nothing gets me more excited for Christmas then watching White Christmas.

  2. Do your kids like the old 80s Cartoons?
Jack Frost, Frosty the Snowman, etc.? What about
‘Twas the Night Before Christmas? That was my favorite Christmas
cartoon when I was a child.

    Eloise at Christmastime? Prancer?

My list isn’t for little kids… but these are my favorites:

It’s A Wonderful Life (My all-time favorite movie)
    Miracle on 34th Street
    Little Women
    One Magic Christmas
    Santa Claus, The Movie
    Prancer
    A Christmas Story
    Christmas Vacation
    The Bishop’s Wife
    Christmas in Connecticut
    Bells of St. Mary’s
    The Holiday
    Home for the Holidays
    The Family Man
and for some reason, I still love Home Alone and Home Alone 2 ;)
(Basically I like them all, haha.)
