  1. So this is a skin care video, but YOUR HAIR IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! Just had to chip in with that compliment.

  2. Um, no commentary on the hair? Werent you in a hair disaster a few posts back?! Need the hair video stat!! Amaze.

  3. Hi – just wondering whether you think all this stuff does really work. I am only asking as I dont make too much of an effort – mostly washing my face and using a simple moisturiser. I am kind of of the opinion that what you eat and the exercise you do is the most beneficial. But if you think that all these products really do something maybe I should make more effort. My latest worry too is seeing scrunch marks in the morning from my face getting screwed up on the pillow. Any suggestions for that?

I think diet and exercise and water intake all play a role in our skin, especially when taking Biotin (5000 mg or don’t bother) for hair, skin and nails and Cod Liver Oil.

Obviously SPF is essential to prevent sun spots, premature aging, etc. If you want to fade dark spots that show aging you either need to use lasers or a topical solution.

For deep wrinkles, a topical won’t help. You need either botox and/or filler injectables. I have not gone this route… yet. I fear the slippery slope.

As for the fine lines around my eyes, I truly have seen a big difference, even in the plumpness of my upper cheeks.

Vitamin A speeds up skin renewal (hence all the peeling), shedding the pigmentation, losing the “texture” etc. And this truly keeps people looking young… if your skin can tolerate it.

Oh, and as for sleep marks. People say that a satin pillowcase makes a difference (also good for hair). I bought a pair of cases on amazon (does wonders to help my frizz, along with my sleep cap – I am turning into that scary bed lady). I’ve tried the Frownies, and I’ve noticed no noticeable difference. I am going to try these:DermaGen Anti-Wrinkle Patches for when you go to sleep. But they seem kind of creepy. Though, then again, growing up, I witnessed my mom using scotch tape across her face, so she wouldn’t frown in her sleep. Whatever keeps rockin’ with our crazy.

  4. Thanks for the taking the time to make this video, more please! I loved all the beauty advice.

  5. Great video! I love skin care in general, but you’re adorable and easy to watch. Seems your personality is reflected, though you’re just talking product.

I am trying to be more consistent with my RX Retinol. I had breakouts, but I know they’re great for anti-aging so I am trying to not stray from that evening routine.

Dr. Murad is my Dermatologist and when I complained about flaky skin from the Retinol, I expected him to sell me one of his products, but he actually recommended I go to the drug store and pick up CeraVe lotion. $14 and I absolutely love the stuff.

Have you used Philosophy’s vitamin C powder? You mix it with whatever moisturizer you’re using and it is by far the best topical solution I’ve ever used that brightens skin and fades hyper-pigmentation.

I used to use Dermalogica’s C concentrate serum, but after reading how vitamin C is very volatile and needs to be extremely fresh, the powder made sense and has shown the most improvement in my skin. And fast, too. Even better. It’s also half the price of the C serums I had used.

Lastly, I think cleansing oil has been one of the best things I’ve done for my skin. I use either Dermalogica or Boscia, but now they’re everywhere so it’s easy to find. Shisheido has their Japanese line on Amazon and at some Japanese markets. Ridiculously cheap, especially compared to their American line. I’m going to try their cleansing oil next.

I, too, have to use my Clarisonic sparingly now, but when I do it, I use the cleansing oil instead of soap and it helps get rid of some of the flaking and feels more gentle. More importantly, my skin has broken out far less since I started using the cleansing oil. If you haven’t used one, I highly recommend them.

Thanks for the great video, now I’m off to look at these products you recommend!

  6. Do you know what the shelf life for the SkinCeuticals is? I tried it a couple years ago and still have quite a bit left of several items…Serum 15, eye cream, and Hydrating B-15 gel. Not sure why I stopped using them but if they are still good, would love to try again. I can’t find a definitive answer on the internet…Thanks!

I don’t know, but I say, try it. I think that the worst that can really happen is that they’ve lost their effectiveness. I would just try and see. You know what else? I feel like I want to buy a mini fridge for my bathroom. Am I high? Nail polish, face creams, perfume, all call for a dark cool place!
