bologna

bologna
The city is just that; a mediocre lunch meat. It smells a little better, but it leaves you kind of soggy and wanting what she is having. There is nothing to do in Bologna besides churches and museums. I did not pack for that. All that silk for nothing. And three pairs of jeans, I was definitely eating retard sandwiches. At least the novel is coming along. I am working on a chapter now… she “did not do sincere; she did Saturdays.” Enter the mother-in-law. I will certainly need some rest in Cinque Terra after that college try. Missing my lovies and my linus. At least I have wine. And how. Not to mention the food, glorious food…

  1. Oy vey honey, you could not be more wrong about Bologna. Sure there is probably not a 57th street or 5th Avenue with Prada & Gucci on every block. But what to do in Bologna is "EAT" ……and drink more wine. Some of the best meals I ever had were in that town.

  2. Sure some movie whose name cannot be remembered might have coined "retard sandwich," but you gave it currency. For that reason alone, we cannot believe you could be even fooled to taste a morsel. It's just not your diet, and please don't make it ours either. Doggie biscuits are fine with us. Italian ones perhaps???

  3. I had Bologna for an app tonight. Well, not Bologna, but it was some sort of meat. The package at Associated read "Hot! Supprawhatever" – good enough for me.

  4. wow, i've lost all food respect for you. bologna invented tortellini, bolognese sauce, virtually all types of lasagna and have the freshest and nicest cure pork products in the world (porscuitto, mortadella, etc).

    yikes.

  6. Just so you know… Linus is doing wonderfully. He loves the run, hates the dogs there, and we met a hottie who lives on your floor… but I think she's moving out :(
Hurry back so you can find out for me :P

  7. Okay okay, I ate up two entire pasta dishes and a plate of meat. I have not been able to poop in days. All the coffee and espressos have yet to do their job. Who knew travel meant constipation. The italians do not do bran. Fruit and coffee have not worked. I know you do not care but it is a silent killer. Food in Bologna was unreal. God so good. I am off now to shovel seafood rissoto into my mouth on the cinque terra. Yum.

  8. Oh chica, that happens to me nearly every time I go to Italy. Difficult to remedy once it has started, but needless to say, lots and lots of water, esp. when you just wake up, and lay off the carne and pasta for a few days. If it's really bad, you can ask at a farmacia for "qualcosa per la stitichezza (constipation)." Not to worry – Italians are totally obsessed with bodily functions, especially those having to do with digestion. Your query will not embarrass anyone. Ciao, and have fun!

  9. Oh damn how can you hate on Bologna, i see you have softened a bit, but by far it is the BEST FOOD IN THE WORLD. and whats wrong with going to museums and churches, isnt that what is so special about Italy..

  10. All of your pictures are incredible. Just by seeing them, it is like I am seeing everything through your eyes. As I have said in the past, you are unbelievably talented and it is amazing how you can spot a great picture and make it even better. Keep it up and I can't wait to see the rest of the trip…and then the postcards and books.

  11. Hi,

just happenend to read this part about Bologna, my hometown.
Bologna is a cosy city with plenty of things to do, very lively and yes…I agree with the person who wrote that what you do in Bologna is eating and drinking… We are in the TOP 3 BEST FOOD in Italy!!! =)

Of course if you compare Bologna to Rome or Milan (for obviuos different points of you), yes… Bologna can be a little provincial, but just if you don’t look a little deeper.

Hope Bologna will host you one day again and make you slightly change your mind about her.

Loved the pics!!! they’re beautiful, thanx!
